  • [FR1/FR2] The game keeps crashing

Q: The game used to work fine for me, but now it keeps crashing. What happened?

A: There are a few different reasons this might be happening, so the quickest way to get your game working properly is to run through some troubleshooting steps. If nothing here works for you, you may be experiencing a new issue; in that case, please alert us to the issue at bugs@subatomicstudios.com.

Before troubleshooting, first make sure your issue isn't addressed elsewhere:
    • Stuck on the loading screen? Run out of batteries on iOS? Check this thread.
    • New Android phone or operating system? Check this thread.
    • Trying to play via Chrome? Check this thread.
Still here? At this point, then, you're probably running out of memory on your device. Games can be memory-intensive apps, and that gets even trickier on devices with memory-intensive operating systems. The first step, then, is to make sure that no other apps are eating your memory:
    • On iOS 4–6, double-click the home button to show a strip of apps. Press and hold on an app to start them wiggling, and then press the X's in the corners to close every app.
    • On iOS 7–8, double-click the home button to show windows of all open apps. Swipe up on every window to close all the apps.
    • On Android, this differs between OS's and devices, but it's often pretty similar. Search online for "force quit Android app [your device here]" and close them all.
Still crashing? If that doesn't do it, and if you're on iOS, you may get better performance by adjusting the app's settings:
    1. Go to your device's Settings app (looks like it has gears on it)
    2. Scroll down to the Fieldrunners2 app and tap its icon
    3. Tap on the toggle for Retina and set to Off
    4. Back out, and tap on the toggle for Bit Depth and set to Off as well
    5. Relaunch the app
STILL crashing? Something wacky might be going on. Please contact us at bugs@subatomicstudios.com so we can get to the bottom of it.
